Oropharyngeal Protection

One of the most overlooked pieces of our armamentarium when we’re extracting teeth is oropharyngeal protection! Just as you would never do a root canal without a rubber dam, you should never extract teeth without first protecting your patient’s airway. In this video I discuss four methods of oropharyngeal protection that will help to protect you from potential liability and your patient from potential aspiration of their tooth or a foreign object. Aspiration of a foreign object is a major deal that can require surgery so it is ultra important that we are practicing to the standard of care at all times!
